Mercatone Uno–Scanavino is a former professional cycling team which was based in San Marino and then in Italy. Throughout the 1990s it was one of the strongest Italian cycling teams in the peloton. The team was sponsored by a chain of supermarkets in Italy.
Throughout the 1990s Mercatone Uno were one of the strongest Italian cycling teams, led by the infamous Marco Pantani, or "Il Pirata" (the Pirate).
This is the pink Giro winner’s jersey worn by Marco Pantani when he won the tour of Italy in 1998. The Italian won his first Giro wearing the colours of the Mercatone Uno team.
